The factory boost tube is only 2 ½” in diameter, and has several bends that neck down smaller than that. That restricts flow in the part of the induction system where the flow velocity is the fastest, the hot stream air from the turbo’s compressor to the intercooler. In fact, the cooled air from intercooler outlet has slowed down considerably because it’s denser. The Banks Boost Tube is substantially larger than stock, and all of the bends are mandrel-bent, retaining the tubing’s full diameter. Expect to see 2-3 psi more boost with this tube.
